Pakistan's cement factories started downing the employees

This news is obtained from Daily Jauhar Pakistan

Many factories do not even have a health and safety policy, which is a reflection of a weak system. These cement factories are the cause of eternal sleep for dozens of employees  who go out in search of livelihood every year. Foremost among them is the Flying (Zaman) Cement Factory, Mangwal District Khushab, where no health and safety system has been enforced. The weakness of this factory and system led to the head injury of Syed Raqib Hussain Shah Hamdani, third party certified rigger of Mianwali (Mandakhel), which led to his immediate death. This factory has zero monitoring and supervision at the workplace.

In the above mentioned factory, the series of deaths occur continuously every few months and the lamp of a house goes out forever. Crying children, widows and parents are left behind. Here, the factory owners and management are in favor of raising the bread and maintenance of the deceased's wives and children, but they do not take practical steps to address the causes that lead to the death of young men. Thousands of people depend on the livelihood of the above factory, but the work site is a complete red zone from the point of view of health and safety. Labor unions, labor courts, national and international health and safety organizations are completely helpless to prevent workers from dying here.

The Government of Pakistan should ensure the appointment of Health and Safety Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, Inspectors and Monitoring Officers in every factory earning billions of rupees annually and provide special authority by connecting this department with legal institutions. So that no organization plays with the rules of health and safety. According to the reports of the global survey, accidents and deaths are negligible in the institutions where health and safety system is in place, and hundreds of deaths and accidents are seen every year in the institutions that are running away from the health and safety system.

Since Pakistan is a developing country, labor is cheap here, due to the collusion of the management, most of the organizations consider themselves exempt from the health and safety system and even if an accident occurs, they are experts in disposing of the matter by handing it over to the family members. In this way, due to the system being corrupt and weak, many deaths are not even recorded in the records of the institutions. Pakistan is also one of the few countries with high industrial fatality rate. Government of Pakistan and international health and safety organizations are requested to take steps to prevent industrial deaths and accidents.
